July 2016

Pettafiesta presents…

This year Pettafiesta will be taking a break but instead some friends of ours are bringing you a very special event.   Similar to Pettafiesta but then again…

Welcome to Mekonville.
July 28th – 30th 2017
Pettaugh, Suffolk
40 years ago this year a group of art students formed a band in Leeds. The band never split up but evolved over the years from art punk to alt-Americana and beyond with countless spin offs along the way. No less than 3 films have been made about them.

Iconic journalist Lester Bangs called them “the most revolutionary group in the history of rock’n’roll” (and then he asked to borrow some money, says Andy).

This year for the first time ever both the original line up (who last played New Years Eve, New York City in 1980) and the current line up will be playing at Mekonville.
The Mekons will be joined by some special friends from the past 40 years across many genres, but there’ll also be new bands, film, spoken word, weird stuff, art and crafts, dancing, kids activities, running around, building dens, bonfires and much more.

Suffolkfoodie sadly will be cooking for Heston that weekend (yes really) so instead we will be bringing you the best of local food stallholders, craft beers and local ciders.

and for those of you who bought tickets for last year’s cancelled Pettafiesta you will get a 25% discount on tickets by contacting us here.

Early bird tickets available til 31st March (subject to availability).

For full details sign up to updates from the Mekonville website here.

Tickets are available here.

But while you’re here, let us tell you about Pettafiesta…

Pettafiesta is a tiny 3 day music and arts festival in the heart of Suffolk.  Held in a be-yootiful moated garden, with several acres of space to run around in, and plenty of nooks and crannies in which you can just hide and relax.   Come for some or all of the weekend – there’s plenty to enjoy!

We have a main stage with bands from near and far and of all musical genres.

But we also have acoustic performances in the garden from the best local singer songwriters hoping to follow the footsteps of local troubadour Ed Sheehan.

We have spoken word, comedy and cabaret, and will look to provoke thought and debate.

We have award winning food – often cooked on the campfire

We have audience participation

We’re a place where all ages party together (but some go to bed earlier than others) and there’s plenty of room for everyone to have their own space.

We do things we probably shouldn’t..

and we do things just because it seemed like a good idea at the time

We do it for fun but also to raise money for  Teenage Cancer Trust.  Ticket prices include all activities, parking and camping.  We do not have lots of craft stalls, nor traders or other things to waste your money on.  You only have to pay for the delicious food, the local beers and ciders (unless you want to bring your own – but why bother?!) and any relaxation treatments you have.

Come join our merry little gang!
