Latest news from Pettafiesta –
Suffolk’s best party!
For those of you who haven’t been following us on social media (where have you been??!) we had a brilliant final to our songwriting competition on 2nd May in Ipswich’s Cult Cafe. We took some really bad photos with our crappy phones which will be on the website imminently – if only someone had remembered to charge up the camera. The songwriting camp will be held at Laffitts Hall at the end of May for 6 talented young writers who’ll also be performing at Pettafiesta.
We’re delighted to confirm that Ben Osborne will be appearing at Pettafiesta. Author of the A-Z of Club Culture, extensive writer on music and driving force behind the Noise of Art multi-media collective, he continues to be in great demand as a DJ and we’re chuffed he’ll be doing a set for us. Other sets tbc including the traditional cheesy disco.
Also confirmed is comedian Rick Wood, and for those of you who noticed that our spoken word competition this year is “I’m taking it to the Fringe,” you’ll be delighted to hear that Rick really is “taking it to the fringe”. He’s on his way to Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August (not literally, obviously!).
We’ve been trying to fit in a power ballad “moment” at Pettafiesta and have finally cracked it. Ladies and Gentlemen – we bring you “Ping Pong Power Pop.” We are going to add to our morning ping pong contests the sounds of those classics, so Don’t Stop Believing – Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now (ok that’s enough – Ed).
And (not very) finally – our search for a banjo player to come and play round the campfire is over and he’ll be taking requests. Now all we need is a mariachi band…. anyone???!
